What alternative do we have? In the Mac App Store there are many alternatives, but in my opinion the best of all is "Better Rename 9", formerly known as "A Better Finder Rename". Not that Automator is too complicated to use, but the truth is that it is never an easy task. But if it is a question of renaming files in bulk, you should resort to create a script with Automator to be able to do it. Another option is to click twice (not very often) on the file name and you will have the same result. Renaming a single file is easy, you just have to select the file and press Enter, you can automatically change the name, respecting the extension. Renaming files on Mac is one of the tasks that is not well done.
